David Michel 2024

David is running for re-election in the 146th District - Stamford’s South End, Downtown, and Shippan.

As a tireless grassroots activist, David will always do what’s best for the people and the environment even when it is unpopular in Hartford. because he is not beholden to special interests that often dominate the political discussion, He will fight to eliminate the special treatment and excessive tax breaks given to corporate special interests and developers.

He believes in giving everyone the opportunity to run for office, not just the wealthy and well connected. He will defend and strengthen Connecticut’s groundbreaking program that publicly funds campaigns.

David has proven himself to be determined, relentless, and knowledgeable when it comes to fighting for our neighborhood...I am certain he will bring these very same qualities and his boundless energy to Hartford, which is what we sorely need.
— Kathleen Mathews, leader of the Czescik Park and Harbor Conservancy.

David Michel

At the age of 14, David Came to THE shores of long island sound from France. Born to a French Mother and an Australian Father, David grew up in the u.s DEVELOPING a life long appreciation for the natural beauty that our region has to offer. His Mother is a life-long high school teacher and his father, an ENTREPRENEUR, both instilled in him the IMPORTANCE OF education and determination.

"I can't stress enough the fact of how important education is for our children and for the future of our planet."

David, a long-time Stamford resident, is an entrepreneur - the founder and CEO of a successful nation-wide designer EYeWEAR sales and distribution firm. he has been a firefighter, a taxi driver, a pizza delivery guy. he's sold popcorn in movie theaters and swept up the kernels at the end of the night. David volunteered as a first-responder at ground zero and once spent every night for 30 days on the beaches of Florida physically protecting critically endangered sea turtle hatchlings by shepherding them to the sea.  David and His Wife Jenny were married in 2017 and live in Shippan with their three rescue cats.

"I’VE BEEN AN ADVOCATE FOR THE PEOPLE, THE ANIMALS, AND THE ENVIRONMENT ALL OF MY LIFE.”

For the past several years David has led local efforts to clean up roughly 20,000 pounds of trash by hand from our parks, beaches, wetlands, and streets with groups of volunteers.David sees a clear analogy between the trash he finds on the beach and the kind of dysfunction he observes in state politics. when he discovered that city garbage had been blowing into Stamford harbor from the city dump for years. David organized several meetings with high-level city managers and elected officials, which resulted in an immediate placement of a protective barrier, which prevented further pollution.

I’VE LIVED HERE ALL MY LIFE AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN AS EFFECTIVE AS DAVID IN PROMPTING ACTION BY THE CITY TO ADDRESS A PROBLEM
— STAMFORD BOARD OF FINANCE MEMBER KIERAN RYAN
